Paper Mache hanging Lantern

Image
I tell you the team from  Aussie Crafters  made us use our thinking caps this month. We had to make a paper mache hanging lantern and I thought what the ..... am I going to do for this one. So I decided to use a balloon and make my lantern into an air balloon. All this while I am travelling I tell you, just to put a bit of preasure on  myself lol. So I used a balloon for the top part before I added the paper mache I glued yes more sticky fingers, some string onto it to make the ridges for the top. Then cover it using brown paper as that is all I had. Then for the basket part I used a bottom of a cup and tada the hot air balloon is now created. Now I thought I have to use pages from an old nursery rhyme book Mother Goose is the theme so I called on my Husband before we left home to photocopy some pages from an old book I had. I covered the balloon with some old pages from an old book and glued it on yes more sticky fingers.... then fussy cut Mother Goose out and put her on...

This month at Aussie Crafters  we the  Design team had to create some handmade flowers for the monthly swap. So I took punches and dies etc  with me on my holidays  and created up a storm. I had to make at least 4-6 handmade flowers and this is what I came up with. This one is made from a sizzix die called flower layers and leaves I also used some sugar glitter paste from Bo Bunny This one is one of my favourite dies Tim Holtz tattered flowers die This is another Tim Holtz die mini paper roses And another sizzix die flowers 3D With this one I used a heart template and curled the hearts to make the flower petals used glue nice and sticky fingers and used a Martha Stewart punch for the leaves and skewers for the stems. This is a different view from the top

Next one on the list was to make an Aquarium or Diorama hmm I thought what am I going to create, I wanted to do something different so I pulled out a 16x16 inch canvas turned it over to the back and away I went. A bit of texture paste here and there. Sprayed glimmermist to my hearts content added a smaller canvas and created a mermaid using the lovely Julie Nutling mermaid stamp, seashells, pearl sprays and of course some prima flowers and leaves.

For the month of April Aussie Crafters hold  challenges and swaps and this month the theme is Under the Sea. The first one was a card swap and I had to make a gel card. Gel card I thought never made one of these before. So I headed to google and soon found out and away I went.  So this is my hair gel card it is 6x6 inches and some special lady is going to get my card. The photo was hard to photograph the glare was really bad but it turned out ok.
